She's SIX!!!

Alright, so I'm still kind of running around hectically. Since we found out where we are moving to we have been scrambling to get everyone to the appropriate doctors and dentists so that we could get medical approved for leave. With the help of The Incredible Brandi (that should be her magician name) we got FIVE "new patient" appointments within TWO days. I don't care who you are that is impressive! She like Hypnos. (greek god with a hypnotic voice, sorry I've been reading the Percy Jackson series so I have gods on the brain) Anyway, so besides running back and forth to different doctor appointments, to and from different schools and babysitters, I also had to run and get different paperwork filled out and signed. It was pretty stressful. In between all of that I had two birthdays to plan. One was a friend party, and the other was just family for cake and ice cream. I should have just bought a cake and saved me some stress but how could I turn down my Kaelin.

Her spider-man decorations. Spider-man streamer, balloons, cups, plates, table cloth, banner, EVERYTHING! Rob went all out for his big girl.

After I decorated the cupcakes, I realized that I had used gel food coloring and not gel icing. Oops! It made for some colorful mouths, teeth and tongues.

Spider-man made a special visit and all the kids got their own picture with him to take home in their goody bags. Kaelin kept whispering to him "Take off your mask" and when our neighbor finally did she said I knew it was Matthew because I invited him!

The kids got to decorate their own masks. They had plenty of material to do so. Almost all of the material was a Christmas present to Kaelin from our other neighbor Grandma Bev.

And of course their favorite activity of the whole party was just running around in a circle.

Here is a picture of her birthday dress that she picked out. This might be a new tradition. It was a couple sizes too big so I did my best with the sewing machine and adjusted the straps. Then, of course she wanted to do a silly pose. Nice!

Her Spider-Man cake. And yes, Spider-Man is massive compared to the city of ONE building.
Usually I do a whole lot more mental planning for a cake but this time I made the little "building" cake very last minute. And was standing above the cooled cakes trying to plan the layout. By the way, those red "bushes" by the door of the building I added at the very end because Kaelin wanted red sprinkles somehow incorporated into the cake, she also wanted poop in the grass somewhere but that one I turned her down on.
I used the rainbow cake technique again this year but only used red and blue. But, since it was yellow cake it ended up being turquoise and coral, not so Spider-Manesque. Here's the link for the rainbow cake for anyone interested (Jenn-Lee) CAKE .

Well, that party is finished and I don't have to worry anything else but cleaning, at least until something else comes up.

P.S. Kaelin wants pictures of all her presents to be posted on her blog, so if you area interested in seeing that, her photo on the right is a link to her blog.

The best kind of prize is a Surprise!!!

Here are a few pictures of a beautiful island, in the Azores Islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, off of Portugal.

Here is a picture of a street downtown. Besides quaint villages, there are also, caves, hiking tours, vineyards, and lots of interesting history.

Here is a lovely view of the island scenery. Local weather is very mild, with winter lows in the 50's and summer highs in the 80's.

And last, but certainly not least, here is a picture of the Lajes Field, Air Force Base. I show you these pictures because this is where we will be stationed for at least two years!!!!! We got a surprising offer and after some investigation, we accepted. Surprise!!!

Just too cute

I recently picked up some refills for a Swiffer, my sister had in her closet and some Pledge duster wands. The kids have LOVED them. Savanna always wants to help and Kaelin and Sean run around with the dusters and dust everything and since we live in a desert, that is a big job. The kids end up fighting over who gets to mop! I don't have to worry about them making a big mess with all the water, with regular mopping. When we finally move I will definitely own a few of these.

We're down to three

With less than 100 days until Rob graduates, it would be nice to know where we will be moving.

I was going to say, "In random order", so as not to show preference, but its accidentally in alphabetical order. So, In alphabetical order, our choices have been narrowed down to...

Rob is in the Air Force so we really don't have to make the decision but we finally know its down to these three destinations. Let me know what your thoughts are. I made the name of the town larger, so you could see exactly where. Rapid City is not exact but its just northeast of there. I'm just excited to be to this point.

Our fireman

Sean told me he wanted to turn his bed into a fire truck. I figured he would move pillows around and pretend to drive it. Then, he told me to come "check it out".
I guess fire trucks do have ladders. He would climb up and over and do it over and over again. Saying "Look, I'm a fireman!" (in a gruff "man" voice) He tends to use the same voice for, "I'm Batman!" "I'm a dinosaur" and "I'm a Mighty Machine!" He has many more. He can totally play by himself and be entertained for a while. His imagination is fabulous. We were visiting family this past weekend and he ran in to tell them,"You have lava on your bed!" We all said alright and let him keep playing. Until, he came running in crying because of all the "lava". So, I handed him a "lava vacuum" so he could go clean it up. I love when he uses his imagination.

Our little artist

A few common phrases in our house:

"Is Savanna in the art room?"
"Vanna, give me the marker!"
"Vanna, you only color on paper."
"Kaelin, you have to make sure you clean up your markers"

Do you see a pattern? We sure do, because this is what happens.
This is an attempt at a "smile"

Kaelin has a new post

For anyone that wants to see it, she has a link on the right, or you can click on her picture on the right. FYI, Shauna, Micaela and Kerie I. should read this.
