What big brothers are for

"Mom, Savanna is crying! Can I give her kisses?"

In the process of giving her kisses he knocks her over, I suspect that he does this on purpose.

I don't have any brothers but I'm learning that this is the gist of what big brothers are for.
In the end she is happy and knows that her brother loves her,
even though there were a few tears along the way

This was on St. Patty's Day. I think his necklace looks like Lucky Charms so it works. Kaelin got it for her birthday and Sean always wants to wear it.

Kaelin posing. If you look carefully, you can see that she got a haircut. Nothing too much just evened up in the back. Sean got his hair cut too.

We made brownies and once again Sean got to help for the first time. He did great! The brownies on the other hand turned out really gross. There is nothing sadder than bad brownies.

Yup, that's Sean roller skating without pants. I love that boy!





I don't really have any stories. I'm sure I'll come up with something eventually.

Nashville

Over Rob's spring break we took a little day trip to Nashville. We went and enjoyed the children's science museum and then headed on back to Memphis. It was pretty crowded just because we happened to be there on a Saturday. There were a couple of birthday parties going on, which I thought was totally cool, because your guests could show up whenever and just play until it was time for the actual party to start.

In school, Kaelin just finished up the section about dinosaurs. So, she is currently obsessed with dinosaurs. She was pretty excited/scared to see a T-Rex skull.

There is a tower that goes all the way through the center of the building. It has different slides mini-exhibits, stairs, and learning games. It ends up in a glass pyramid that over looks Nashville. I was able to go all the way up, because I was following Kaelin. I wish I could have played more because it looked like so much fun!

Savanna was able to enjoy some moving lights. This was in the solar system area.

And this one was in the brain. They had a whole area that was about the body and it was broken down into different sections. The light "messages" would travel up and down the "nerves". You could climb through an ear canal, or slide through your digestive system. They had a water works play area that demonstrated how you heart worked. They also had a giant hand that you had to individually move each finger in attempts to grab a hug baseball. That was really hard and I was determined to do it, but you really needed at least 3 people to do it. I would totally go back just to prove that it could be done.

Sean really liked the toddler area. There was a big back hoe to push and move the balls. Rob hung out inside this for a little while. Boys will be boys.

Savanna liked the fun house mirrors

This mirror is supposed to make you look short, but I didn't notice much difference in the height department. Kaelin just told me that I have fat legs and a fat tummy in this picture.

Kaelin was also really excited to see the Magic School bus there. I introduced her to this show just a few days before this. Weird!

I thought she would LOVE the walk-on piano, but can you guess her true feelings?

This exhibit was so cool. The colors would change as you moved around in front of it. Then it would change to water ripples. It was like MAGIC!!!

The first area we went to had a bunch of learning toys about momentum and movement. Different sounds and illusions were also there.

Over all, it was a really fun museum. If we had more time here I would definitely go back.

Gaga

Gaga is what my children lovingly refer to my Mom as. Kaelin coined the phrase and it just stuck. It has been really nice living "close" to my parents. My mom came to visit this past February, possibly for the last time. When we move to Utah we won't be able to see her as often. I love when she comes to visit, as do the kids. They get so excited and run out when they see her drive into the lot. I know if I really needed her to come down she'd be here.

Don't let this picture fool you, Sean is overjoyed when Gaga comes to visit, he just hates pictures. You can attribute that to his Dad.

Savanna loved her Gaga. And I loved how my mom's perfume rubbed off on Savanna. Perfume always smells better when its on my mom.

Savanna couldn't get enough of my mom's face. It was pretty cute.

I wish that my mom and dad could come down to visit one more time before we leave (hint, hint). Maybe for Savanna's 1st birthday (hint, hint)

We love you Gaga!

She has been there for me with every baby. She was there at 3 am when Kaelin would only nurse from one side, (ouch) Thanks Mom! She was there when Sean was born and Rob MIA and flew with us two weeks later to Memphis, Thanks Mom! And she was here just after Savanna was born, during Rob's finals. Thanks Mom!

Earlier I posted a picture of Jayme, my sister, but I realized that that was NOT the 6th folder, so sorry.

This picture was from Sean's first birthday. We combined Kaili's and Sean's party. They are Romeo and Juliet, except instead of Montague and Capulet, it's BYU and Utah. Tiffany made the cakes respectfully and then the kids destroyed the opposing school. It was great.

Giraffe Kisses- isn't about time?

A couple weeks ago I mentioned that there would be more to come concerning the giraffe kisses so here you go. It was a lot of fun! A little "small-townish", but still a lot of fun. My favorite part was feeding the giraffes, zebras, camels, and Clyde. I also loved all the corny names for the animals. I'm sure most of you know, but for those who don't if you put your mouse over the pictures in the slide show, the captions pop up for you to read.

FREE!!!

I am offering free dirty laundry to anyone who is just bored and wants to be stuck in the house all day doing load after load of laundry.

I really don't know how this happens? It probably has to do with the fact that Kaelin changes her clothes multiple times a day and thinks that as soon as it touches her body, no matter for how long, it is dirty and needs to go in the hamper. Savanna goes through a couple outfits, but she's a baby, that's somewhat allowable. Sean gets his clothes sufficiently dirty that he can't re-wear anything. I usually get dirty from, who else but, my kids. All of that put together equals this.

It doesn't look as bad when they are all in their own baskets but still. AND can you believe with this many clothes out of commission we still have enough clothes to make even more dirty laundry? It never fails that as soon as I put a load in the dryer, I end up finding some random shirt or sock that belongs with that specific load. I don't think it would be so bad if I had a larger machine and a dryer that only took ONE instead of three cycles to dry the clothes. One day! Oh, the dreams of a SAHM!

Kaelin's Cake

Micaela sent me a link to this "rainbow cake". For the step-by-step instructions go here . Here are the few pictures I took of the process. The link has a very detailed description for the how-to.




I did two boxes of cake mix and divided it evenly into six bowls. I dyed each bowl a different color. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and the purple. You can do whatever colors you want, in whatever order. I thought it would be fun to do pastels for a baby shower or something. Anyway, you make the first layer a little larger than the rest so the color doesn't get lost. Then, just pile on the the other colors.







On the link's directions, she makes hers low fat, and uses Sprite Zero, instead of eggs and oil for the cake mixes. I used regular Sprite, it made the cake more dense, helped the cake be less fluffy and crumbly, that helped with making the t-shirt shape. I'm sure you could make the cake the normal way and it would be fine.





I know this one is a repeat, but this is the inside of the cake. See how solid looking the cake is. There are hardly any crumbs, I think that's because of the Sprite. It held together so well.

If you had questions about the icing, I used regular whipped white icing and then squeezed food coloring in concentric spirals and then used a butter knife to blend the colors together.
